These words sit at the heart of this workshop. It is a practice, a way of turning toward the people whose lives made ours possible, and saying, out loud, I see what it cost you.

Family Constellations traces back to Bert Hellinger, the German psychotherapist who developed it. Before he was a therapist, Hellinger spent sixteen years as a missionary living among the Zulu people of South Africa. It was there, immersed in their deep reverence for ancestors, that something in him shifted—and he carried that reverence back into Western psychotherapy, building a practice where descendants literally turn, face those who came before them, and speak to them directly.

Why We Honor, Not Owe

There's an important distinction at the center of this work: honoring an ancestor isn't about guilt, and it isn't about debt. It's about order. Those who came before us come before us, not better, not worse, simply first. When we say it plainly, out loud, something in the family system settles. Gratitude here isn't repayment. It's putting things back where they belong, in the correct order.

Scientists studying transgenerational trauma have found real evidence that what our ancestors survived can echo biologically across generations, a 2023 review found that ancestral hardship can affect the well-being of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with human studies showing an ancestor's experience of trauma can shape the health of descendants for generations afterward. We call this epigenetics. 

What to Expect:

This is a full day, held in person, built around presence and healing. You don't need any prior experience with Family Constellations to join, just a willingness to sit with your own lineage, whatever shape that takes for you. We'll move slowly. There's room for silence.

Why Come

Most of us carry our ancestors quietly. In a phrase we inherited, a fear we can't explain, a strength we didn't earn on our own. This workshop gives you a place to actually stop and turn toward that. Not to analyze it. To feel it, name it, and lay it down with honor instead of carrying it unconsciously.
